8/27/20 – Zack Crawley from Santa Monica’s The Proper Hotel stopped by the Revel R&D bar and shook up this refreshing summery libation. Packed full of seasonal flavors like mint, strawberry and lemon, this drink is complimented by the subtle citrus and bitter gentian notes from the Suze Aperitif. It’s definitely one of those crushable, pool-side cocktails you just can’t put down.
5/5/20 – Giving the ‘ol home bar a workout this Cinco de Mayo with another accessible-ingredient cocktail. Since temperatures are rising, we decided to play with some tiki flavors in this one, mixing coconut with mango and Tajin, emulating those classic street vendor fruit cups found in Mexico and Southern California. Happy Cinco friends!
4/7/20 – Since we’re all stuck at home right now with limited items in the pantry (and most likely burnt out on margaritas), we’ve been hard at work coming up with simple cocktail recipes made with ingredients that you should easily be able to get your hands on! This one was a total crap shoot – thrown together with items that were already in the refrigerator. What a pleasant surprise that it turned out absolutely delicious!
8/28/19– For the very first episode of our “Revel R&D Bar” series (find it on our Instagram TV), Jessica Morgan from Gold Diggers Hollywood stopped by to whip up this stunning tiki concoction. She mixed Revel Blanco with this delicious, funky rum from Oaxaca, Mexico (because, of course). Citrus, guava, tiki bitters and egg white to balance it out left us wondering two things — why don’t more people use guava juice in cocktails, and why does summer have to end??
8/10/19– Nothing says pool-side quite like watermelon. This delicious mix of spicy and cool is the perfect day time jam – a chili infused agave is balanced by the cooling fruit, with some herbal notes from the cilantro. A bit of funk on the finish thanks to the fino sherry makes this drink beautifully complex and unique.
8/5/19–The ultimate summer- time cocktail, this spritz is a fresh, bubbly combo of spirit and sparkling. Our riff combines Revel Avila Blanco with notes of ginger and citrus. The Crème de Gingembre has these exotic, spicy, almost candied ginger notes and while people generally think of ginger as winter flavor found in teas and pies, the freshness of this liqueur combined with a high quality ginger beer is undeniably summer.
6/25/19– This riff on a classic G+T packs a beautiful variety of vegetal notes thanks to the Seedlip Garden 108 “non-alcoholic spirit”, a complex blend of peas, homegrown hay and traditional English herbs. Balanced with the dry vermouth and lemongrass bitters to bring out the existing lemongrass notes in the Revel Blanco, this drink is botanically complex but simple to make. Delicious and refreshing for a lazy summer afternoon.
