1/15/19 – Well, we came up with a delicious boozy hot chocolate. You’re welcome. This one will keep you warm through the winter months – A big kick from the 96 proof Revel Anejo pairs beautifully with a little spice from the Ancho Reyes and cayenne top. It’s decedent, so be sure to share with a friend!
11/30/18 – We recently got our hands on some St George Spiced Pear Liqueur and it’s absolutely stunning. You get a hint of every flavor in it – ripe Barlett pear, cinnamon and clove. It makes the perfect fall cocktail, and although we are admittedly a little late to the Fall party, this libation can be enjoyed any time of year.
We added a bit of spice here with some habanero chili pepper-infused maple syrup: roughly chop the peppers and warm on the stove with maple syrup to infuse. (“Hot” tip- for those in the US, Trader Joe’s make a ghost pepper-infused maple syrup that works really well, but it’s on the spicier side, so mix with regular syrup as needed).
This drink will warm the soul through those cold Fall months!
REVEL’s Reposado garnered significant praise from the judges, winning both a gold medal and being crowned “Tequila Reposado of the Year.” REVEL’s Blanco Avila® also took home the bronze medal at the competition.
5/22/18 – Andrew Parish of Orange County’s Central Bar came up with this beauty. Hickory smoked agave is the key to the deliciousness here. Obviously you’ll need a smoking gun (you can buy one on Amazon for around $80), but if that’s too much work, you could always trade smoke for spice and infuse the agave with jalapeños!
4/12/18 – Ah, the Old Fashioned. A true classic the likes of which has had its recipe evolve (and debated) over centuries.
The name says it all. It’s old. One of the very first cocktails in fact – invented in 1880 by aristocrat James E. Pepper. And whether you drink your classic Old Fashioned with Rye or Bourbon, fruit muddled or not (we don’t condone!); many dark (and sometimes light) spirit riffs have been inspired by this drink over the years.
We’ve put our own spin on it, and since Revel Avila Reposado is aged in American oak whiskey barrels, we figured we’d be doing this classic justice. In an effort of keeping with the most traditional way of serving the drink, we’ve kept it simple. A few subtle other flavors perfectly compliment the Avila but also let it shine.
