3/11/20- A year ago, we poured a case of Revel blanco in this 5L American oak barrel and started ageing our own Reposado right here in our LA offices. We popped it open for happy hour last Friday and the results were delicious – slightly softer than the real Repo, with a touch more oak on the finish. Naturally, we couldn’t help messing around with it and came up with this drink. If you’d like to age some Avila yourself, you can order your own 5L or 10L Revel barrel. 10/31/19–Tinctures are easy to make, have a long shelf life and are a great way to spice up cocktails. In wanting to really capture the flavor of the season, we made a clove tincture which mixed beautifully with the fall citrus, blood orange. Demerara has a richness to it that regular simple syrup doesn’t, and combined with the Madagascar vanilla, it compliments the almost desert-like flavors of this drink.
10/9/19-The ideal fall cocktail for when you’re home for the holidays, this drink is like a boozy pumpkin pie in a glass. There are existing hints of spice already found in Revel reposado, not to mention the beautiful bourbon whiskey notes from its’ aging process, all of which bring out the spices found in this homemade pumpkin spice recipe. The sweetened condensed milk adds a decadent richness to the drink, making it the perfect fireplace companion
9/26/19- It’s always a fun day at the office when bartenders come by to play around in the R&D Bar. For Episode Two (up now on IGTV), Nightshade’s Dan O’Reilly came up with this delicious fall-inspired cocktail that combines Revel Avila Blanco with fig, vanilla, cinnamon and prickly pear. We were blown away by the incredible bright orange color and even more so by the flavors. Just the right balance of sweet and tart on this one.
8/28/19– For the very first episode of our “Revel R&D Bar” series (find it on our Instagram TV), Jessica Morgan from Gold Diggers Hollywood stopped by to whip up this stunning tiki concoction. She mixed Revel Blanco with this delicious, funky rum from Oaxaca, Mexico (because, of course). Citrus, guava, tiki bitters and egg white to balance it out left us wondering two things — why don’t more people use guava juice in cocktails, and why does summer have to end??
8/10/19– Nothing says pool-side quite like watermelon. This delicious mix of spicy and cool is the perfect day time jam – a chili infused agave is balanced by the cooling fruit, with some herbal notes from the cilantro. A bit of funk on the finish thanks to the fino sherry makes this drink beautifully complex and unique.
8/5/19–The ultimate summer- time cocktail, this spritz is a fresh, bubbly combo of spirit and sparkling. Our riff combines Revel Avila Blanco with notes of ginger and citrus. The Crème de Gingembre has these exotic, spicy, almost candied ginger notes and while people generally think of ginger as winter flavor found in teas and pies, the freshness of this liqueur combined with a high quality ginger beer is undeniably summer.
“After much deliberation and debate, we whittled our shortlist down to celebrate 10 spirits that we believe to be the most experimental, creative and downright interesting of 2018.
A number of brands stole the spotlight with interesting production methods, unusual ingredients and stand-out packaging designs, while many entered new categories with boundary-breaking expressions.”
